Gregory B. Fralish, Ph.D., is based in the Office of the Dean in the University of Virginia School of Medicine. As clinical and translational research program director, he is involved in a variety of activities across the clinical and translational research continuum, including managing seed funding programs, pre-IND development strategy, the facilitation of technology transfer (pre- and post-IP) and start up company formation.
Fralish previously worked at Cato Research in Research Triangle Park, Durham, N.C., where he managed multi-disciplinary teams tasked with commercially developing early stage health product technologies. While at CATO, he contributed to the development of a wide array of technologies gaining direct experience in FDA regulatory strategy, FDA interactions, preclinical program design and strategy, and clinical trial design and management. In parallel to this role, Fralish also worked as analyst for Cato BioVentures, the venture capital parent of Cato Research. His responsibilities with Cato BioVentures involved leading due-diligence, contract and license negotiation, IP portfolio management and lead generation. Prior to his work in commercial health product development, Fralish was an NIH-funded post-doctoral fellow at Duke University. He received his Ph.D. in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of Georgia and is certified in regulatory affairs from the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society.
